Even without the possibilites provided by faux painting, there are an infinite number of choices when it comes to home decor. Any walk down the paint aisle shows you hundreds of colors and thousands of color combinations. When you add faux to the mix, the opportunities are endless. There are hundreds of kinds of brushes, and paint is applied with rags, sponges, newspaper, cheesecloth, squeegees, and a myriad of other tools.
For this reason, it's important to remember that no faux painter has done or even can do every style. In most cases, you and painter work together to figure out what's best, then the painter goes home and creates a few practice boards. If you like what you see, work starts. If you don't, then it's just a matter of trying again. Every room is different, and every person feels good about different styles and colors. Take your time.
The styles below show a very small sampling of the possibilities. You can start here, but be sure to search around the web too.
